Plein Aire Paint Weekend

The Randolph Arts Council would like to invite you to participate in an exciting event that is the first of its kind for the organization, with the goal of connecting local artists to one another and facilitating the creation of art inspired by views within our community.

In line with the concept of Plein Air, artists are invited to participate by setting up their easels and painting materials outdoors in the open air to capture their inspiration on location. Muses can include, but are not limited to, characteristic and historic places of commerce in our communities, or scenic rural landscapes. Artists have freedom to set up anywhere they choose in Randolph County (with the exclusion of unpermitted private properties) over the weekend of Friday June 5th, Saturday June 6th, and Sunday June 7th. Plein air artists are encouraged to consider the effects of natural light while painting and to interpret their muse through the lens of their own distinctive style using their chosen painting medium.

The Randolph Arts Council asks that all complete pieces be submitted to our Sunset Avenue location between Wednesday June 10th and Friday June 12th (11am-5pm) for the facilitation of the silent art auction benefit taking place Saturday June 13th at the George Washington Carver Center in Asheboro. This will be a ticketed cocktail hour event that allows guests to place bids on canvas pieces, while participating artists are invited to attend at no cost. The sale of individual pieces will be based on the highest placed bid and will pay the artist 65% of that sale, the Randolph Arts Council will retain the remaining 35% for future events and programming.
